International Orientation

The International Education team hosts a series of sessions for new students to ensure a successful start to each semester. The sessions are intended to help students navigate settling in Canada and starting studies at the College and becoming a part of the College community.

 Attendance to all sessions is MANDATORY  for all new international students. Please make sure you are registered for these events. Contact us for more information (inted@okanagan.bc.ca).

Summer 2025 Pre-Arrival & Virtual International Student Orientation

This Virtual International Student Orientation is mandatory. 

Date: Wednesday, April 9

This session will cover essential information to ensure a smooth transition at ¹û½´ÊÓƵ and living in Canada.

Summer 2025 In-Person Orientation for International Students

This orientation day is designed to welcome you to your campus and provide practical information to assist you with settling in your city.

Fall 2025 Pre-Arrival Info Session for International Students

Date: Wednesday, July 23

This info session is designed to make sure you are informed of all the steps relating to registration, medical insurance, up-to-date travel requirements, and more prior to arriving to Canada.

Please note that this session does not replace the main International Student Orientation days listed next. 

Fall 2025- Plan Ahead Virtual Session

Students admitted for the Fall 2025 semester can bring their questions about registration. The session has been designed by the Education Advisors to help you understand how to plan your courses for the entire academic year.

Fall 2025 Virtual International Student Orientation

Date: Wednesday, August 13 and Thursday, August 14

This Virtual International Student Orientation is mandatory. You are only required to take one of the two sessions mentioned above.

Fall 2025 In-Person Orientation for International Students

This orientation day is designed to welcome you to your campus and provide practical information to assist you with settling in your city.   This is a great opportunity to have fun and make new friends!

  • Salmon Arm Campus -Thursday, August 28, Time: TBD
  • Vernon Campus – Thursday, August 28, Time: TBD

College-Wide Orientation

The college-wide orientation will be held at the start of September at each campus. For more information, please visit the orientation page /orientation

Pre-Arrival Guide

  • Submit your study permit application to and
  • Inform your Recruitment Specialists as soon as you receive a decision about your study permit application 

Please arrive to your campus before the in-person orientation events and try not to travel on days when the virtual orientations are scheduled.

* If you are travelling several months before your studies begin, be prepared to give detailed explanations and supporting documents in case airline or border officers ask. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer you meet at the airport/border crossing will make the final decision on whether or not you are admissible to Canada.

*Remember, you will not be allowed to work in Canada until you have begun full-time studies and you meet the requirements.

  • Register for the International Student Orientation:
    • Pre-arrival Info session (1 month before classes start)
    • Virtual Orientation (3 weeks before classes start)
    • Campus Specific In-person Orientation (a few days before classes start)
  • Update your emergency contact in the MyOkanagan student portal
  • Pay your tuition and fees before the deadline
