¹û½´ÊÓƵ

Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology

3D printing is part of lab work in the Mechanical Engineering Technology Department.

Faculty teach fundamental engineering principles and practices while gaining a working knowledge in the areas of material use, structures, fluids, power, machine design, manufacturing, thermodynamics, HVAC, quality and instrumentation and control.

Diploma program

The Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma program is nationally accredited by Technology Accreditation Canada (TAC) and ¹û½´ÊÓƵ students may register with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC).

Bridge program

Students from the ¹û½´ÊÓƵ's Mechanical Engineering Bridge program can bridge into second year, second semester of the Mechanical Engineering Degree program at UBC Okanagan.

Courses

Courses in Mechanical Engineering Technology cover fundamental engineering principles and practices while gaining a working knowledge in the areas of material use, structures, fluids, power, machine design, manufacturing, thermodynamics, HVAC, quality and instrumentation and control.

As a mechanical engineer, my areas of interest are closely related to by teaching duties in the MET department. I specializes in design of mechanical components and systems, dynamic analysis, manual and CNC machining, robotics, and energy systems. I am an avid power sports fan; if it has a motor and goes fast then I’m probably interested, and when it breaks I can usually fix it or build a better one.

My educational path has taken me through a variety of engineering disciplines. Initially, I became a technologist through a college/apprenticeship program, to then attend the University of Applied Science in Zurich, Switzerland completing a degree in Electrical Engineering. Moving to Canada, I continued my academic journey receiving a Master’s and Ph.D. degree at the University of British Columbia in the field of materials science. My research was in collaboration with industrial partners, applying the characterization of material properties of thin-films of carbon to mechanical applications.

I’m passionate about sparking my students’ interest in engineering principles and providing an interdisciplinary perspective on engineering technology.
I’m currently teaching courses in Material Science, Drafting/Graphics, Hydraulics, and Technology/Operations Management.
