English as a second language (ESL) 

¹û½´ÊÓÆµ offers an internationally recognized English as a Second Language (ESL) education. You can learn in person and online through live lectures. We can’t wait to help you develop your English level for personal, education and future employment opportunities!

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Apply for the English Language program  
Provide proof of Permanent Residence status or Canadian Citizenship to the registration office or contact the admissions department.  
Once you apply you will be sent an email with a student number, followed by an offer into the program. 
 
Step 2:  Assess your English level 
After you accept your college offer, you can use your IELTS, TOEFL, DUOLINGO, or ¹û½´ÊÓÆµELA score to check your English level. Look for an email from a teacher or the registrar's office. 
 
Step 3: Register in English language classes 
After you submit your IELTS, TOEFL, DUOLINGO score (or take ¹û½´ÊÓÆµ English Language Assessment), ¹û½´ÊÓÆµ staff will help you register for the correct level in the English language program and help create a schedule that works for you! Please ensure your test score results are from within the last year.

¹û½´ÊÓÆµ has four semesters; students may choose part-time or full-time studies

How much are the English language classes? 
Tuition is free for English language classes but ancillary fees still apply. Some courses require textbooks that can be purchased at the . 


Is there financial assistance available? 
Yes, financial assistance may be available to help you with the direct costs of your English language classes, for example, supplies and bus passes. You can apply for the Adult Upgrading Grant.
