Course prerequisites 

������Ƶ courses have prerequisites that can be met through high school grades, post-secondary history, previous or current enrolment, transfer credits, exemptions, or year standing. If you get an error message during web registration, requesting a prerequisite waiver might be the quickest solution. 

Step-by-step instructions 

Step 1: Transcripts submissions: Please ensure we have received your official final high school transcript and any post-secondary transcripts.  

Step 2: Transfer credits: If you have credits from another institution, we strongly recommend applying for transfer credit. Transferring course credits will resolve prerequisite error messages. 

Step 3: Finding prerequisites: To view prerequisites for courses, please go to the ������Ƶ Calendar - View Courses 

Exchange student: Your course approvals should be recorded in your student record, allowing you to register online. If you encounter any issues, please contact the registration office at your campus. If you wish to enroll in another course at ������Ƶ, submit a prerequisite waiver form. 

How to obtain a prerequisite/corequisite waiver 

Step 1: Log into your myOkanagan account 

Step 2: Under “My useful links” click on “Student forms” 

Step 3: Select “Request to waive prerequisites/corequisites 

Step 4: Complete all required fields on the form and submit it. You can also attach any necessary documents. 

The Dean or their designate will review your request. Once approved, you can register for your courses online. 

Please note that waivers are specific to each term. If you don't register for the course in the approved term, you'll need to submit a new request for a future term.

I have met all the prerequisites, and I am still getting an error message? 

If you're registering for a future semester but still completing courses this semester, the system might not recognize your prerequisites. The easiest solution is to visit the registration office at your campus to verify prerequisites and register. Make sure you have applied for transfer credit if you are coming to ������Ƶ from another institution. 

I am not sure if I have all the prerequisites. Who can I speak to? 
We recommend making an appointment with an educational advisor. They can review your academic history and tell you if you've met the prerequisites or need more courses. 
Education Advising | ������Ƶ 

I have met with a business educational advisor and have received exemptions based on my previous post-secondary transcripts. However, I still receive the prerequisite error message? 
Exemptions are noted in your student record comments but aren't recognized by the system for prerequisites. To fix this, submit a request to waive prerequisites or co-requisites for the Dean's approval. Be sure to mention your exemptions in the comments. 
 
I am a visiting student. Will I receive a prerequisite error when I web register for courses? 
If you provided ������Ƶ with a “Letter of permission” (LOP) from your institution, the LOP will be entered onto your student record for that term. LOP permission is specific to each term, you should not see a prerequisite error message when registering for the course.
